Who are we?
The starting point has to be Jesus

He is the only reason for our church. He is the source of our life and the head of our community. Our purpose is to grow disciples of Jesus who will glorify God by their love and service and engage Parramatta and the world with the message of Jesus’ resurrection.

If you would like to know more about Jesus, we would love you to join us at Explore. Explore gives you time and space to consider the big questions of life and to explore the life of the person at the heart of the Christian faith – Jesus Christ.

The Music

We love to sing! At our 8am English service, we sing traditional and well-loved hymns accompanied by our historic pipe organ. At our other services, we sing contemporary Christian songs accompanied by a band.

The Message

During the service we read the Bible together, then one of our Pastors teaches us from the passage for around 20-30 minutes. We believe the Bible is relevant to our lives today, and pray that God's Word would challenge and transform us.

The Invitation

After all our services, we enjoy morning tea or a meal together as we get to know each other more. We would love for you to join us!

Parramatta is a city of many languages and cultures - and so is St John's. We have congregations that meet in four languages: English, Persian (Farsi), Cantonese and Mandarin. Within our English congregations we have many more languages spoken amongst members.

Each congregation has members from a wide range of ages: from toddlers through to retirees. Children have their own Kids Church and when they reach high school they graduate into City Youth - a Sunday morning congregation and fellowship just for youth.

Kids Church meets at 9:30am and 11am in the 45 Hunter St building. Kids start with their parents in the Cathedral or parish halls, then come out to Kids Church with their leaders early in the service.

City Youth meets at 9:30am in the RJ Room, then continues with discipleship groups at 11am.

We recently moved to Parramatta to begin a new stage of our life, so we were both excited and anxious about it. In God’s grace, the warm and welcoming atmosphere at St John’s, along with its sound doctrine, made us feel welcome not just to God’s family, but also made us feel part of the local community as well.

At all our services, you'll see people wearing different styles of dress. Some will dress formally, and others will be more casual. We also have some who wear traditional dresses from their culture. You are welcome to wear whatever makes you feel comfortable.
