How much time do you spend thinking about what the New Creation will be like? When Jesus returns to make all things new, how will things be? What will we be like? What difference does it make to know the answer?
This week, as we continue in our Vision Series “Hope in the Risen Christ”, we turn to consider this important question. What will my Resurrection body be like? We’ll look together at what the Apostle Paul has to say in 1Cor. 15:35-49 as he asks “what kind of body will we get?”. How would you answer that question right now?
The truth of the Resurrection lies at the very heart of Christian hope and this is certainly true when it comes to our own Resurrection. But it’s often the case that we Christians simply don’t give it the consideration that it deserves. We can be so caught up in the here and now, with both the pleasures and concerns of our current existence, that we lose sight of what is yet to come.
Stopping and thinking about the Resurrection, as we’ve been doing over this Vision Series, has the uncanny effect of lifting our eyes up and before the immediate to the eternal. And that might start to change how we think and how we act. I hope that’s been your experience over this Series. We’ve certainly been praying that it would be your experience! Maybe you’ve found yourself thinking in new ways. Maybe you’ve been renewed and encouraged in things that you already knew. Don’t let that moment pass you by - use this Vision Series as a spur to make some big decisions about where your energy is going and what is most important to you.
Paul tells the Corinthians - and us - that if the Resurrection is not true then they have believed in vain (1Cor. 15:14). He also tells us that if the Resurrection is indeed true then the work of the Lord is not in vain (v58). Either way, everything hangs upon it. So what will our Resurrection be like? And what difference does it make to where our energy goes? I’m looking forward to seeing you this Sunday as we explore these life-changing questions and renew our Hope in the Risen Christ.

Pray for Hope in the Resurrection
Give thanks for the certain hope of the resurrection and the promise of new creation when Jesus returns to make all things new. Ask God for renewed minds and hearts as his people reflect on the glory of the resurrection and the transformation it brings. Ask God to lift their eyes from the concerns of this world to the eternal hope found in Christ, so that their lives and energy would be directed toward what truly lasts.
