OVERVIEW
St John’s Anglican Church is seeking approval of a Planning Proposal to ensure its long-term presence in Parramatta continues. The proposal will enhance the services that it delivers to its parishioners and the Parramatta community.
WHAT IS PROPOSED?
The Planning Proposal seeks to change the current zoning of the St John’s Church land to permit additional uses including commercial, retail and potentially residential offerings (such as seniors living) on parts of the site.
OPTIONS BEING CONSIDERED
There are two options under consideration as part of the Planning Proposal.
OPTION 1 seeks the removal of St John’s Parish Hall.
This option is the preference of St John’s Church as it will enhance the open space around the Cathedral and provide improved sightlines between the Cathedral and the new church facilities in the proposed northern tower. This option also provides the opportunity to significantly improve the spaces and rooms available for use by parishioners and the community.
OPTION 2 retains the existing Parish Hall
