In a former life Bruce worked in finance for Qantas. He committed his life to Jesus while studying economics at the University of NSW. Bruce loves to walk and canyon in the Blue Mountains where he grew up or to take his wife Michele riding on his Harley Davidson. Together they have three adult children and eight grandchildren.
As well as directing the parish and staff, Bruce pastors the 8:00am and 11:00am congregations.
Originally from the UK, David has lived in and experienced church in four different continents. He loves explaining how good Jesus is for people no matter where they’re from and really enjoys being in a diverse church family who come from all over the world. David is married to Jacqui who comes from Singapore and they have three children. He writes on his website davidould.net.
David oversees the English language congregations and pastors the 9:30am congregation.
Michael is originally from Iran and has a PhD in Linguistics. He and his wife Ulrike were missionaries with Operation Mobilisation before coming to St John’s in 2004. The Safari’s have two boys and minister to the Persian congregations in the Farsi language. Michael is passionate about evangelism and can be found most Thursdays in the Parramatta City Mall area doing just that. He also enjoys soccer.
Michael oversees the Persian language congregations.
Ken is originally from Hong Kong. He qualified as a CPA and worked with Panasonic before deciding to go into full time ministry. He joined the staff at St John’s in 2004. Ken is married to Joyce and together they enjoy travel, and have been to over 30 countries. Ken is passionate about discipleship training and would like to train more Christians to be mature in Christ.
Ken oversees the Chinese language congregations.
Jaison was born in India but grew up in Sydney. He grew up in a Christian family but only became a Christian himself when he discovered the Bible’s radical message about the grace of God while listening to a sermon during his lunch break at work. Jaison now loves seeing others from all different backgrounds and age-groups learning about this same grace shown to sinners in the death and resurrection of Christ. He enjoys having a good cold brew coffee with friends and loves watching Marvel movies.
Jaison oversees the Engage Youth Ministry, pastors the 5pm congregation and leads the Explore Evangelistic Ministry.
Carmen grew up in Sydney and came to know and trust in Jesus when she heard the gospel in youth group, and saw the love Christians have for one another. Carmen counts it a privilege to be able to share the hope of Christ to others and partner with families in discipling children to becoming followers of Jesus. She enjoys a good cup of chai and playing board games with friends and family.
Carmen oversees the children’s ministry and Kids’ Church.
Harrison is originally from China and was an opto-mechanical engineer in the space industry. From 2000-2014 Harrison worked in the electronic and computer industry in Sydney. He joined the staff at St John’s in 2018 after finishing his theology degree and is passionate about evangelising Chinese people. Harrison is married to Carol, and they like to play badminton and go swimming together with their two boys, Andrew and Daniel.
Harrison is involved in pastoring the Chinese-speaking congregations.
