We've just recently celebrated the amazing news of the Gospel over the Easter weekend, the news that Jesus so loving that he chose to be crucified for our sake, and so powerful that he broke open the grave. This is news worth sharing! The first followers of Jesus went from being locked away in their own fear to proclaiming this message to everyone, everywhere; moved because of their encounter with the risen Jesus.

On Sunday afternoon, March 24, about twenty people from of our church sought to do the very same thing. Some were nervous, or had never really had a conversation like this before, others were seasoned and confident, but everyone gave it a go.

The Parrachute music festival was thrumming, multitudes of people were walking, and we invited as many as we could to talk about the great news of Jesus.

Though our time was short, it was a great afternoon. Yes, there were some who said 'no, thank you,' but there was just as many, if not more, who were willing to stop and talk about Jesus.

Some reflections from the team who came were:

  • How privileged we are to be placed in the heart of Parramatta, amidst a great diversity of cultural, religious, and ethic backgrounds.
  • How open people are to talking about Jesus.
  • How vast the need for us to share the good news.

Give thanks that, despite the various feelings and abilities, everyone bravely had a go, and that, in God's kindness and in response to our prayers, there were so many conversations and positive interactions.

Next week St John's is partnering with Hebron Chinese Alliance Church to run City Fest - two days (9:30am-2pm, Friday 19 - Sat 20 April) on our lawns to invite people to stop, enjoy tea and games, and have conversations about Jesus.

Please pray. And please come along to support and serve, and especially to invite people onto our lawns and into conversation.
